July 2022

Casualties

In July 2022, there was one recorded incident of explosive weapon use in South Korea, which resulted in one civilian death. There were no armed-actor casualties in South Korea in July.  

On 03 July 2022, one man was killed in a landmine explosion near the inter-Korean border, in Cheorwon, as he was operating an excavator during some flood restoration work.

December 2021

Casualties

In December 2021, there were no recorded civilian casualties of explosive weapon use in South Korea. There was one recorded incident of explosive weapon use in which one armed-actor was injured. On 30 December 2021, an South Korean Army service member was wounded by a landmine explosion near the inter-Korean border in Yanggu.

November 2021

Casualties

In November 2021, there were no recorded civilian casualties of explosive weapon use in South Korea. There was one recorded casualty-causing incident on 21 November 2021, when one armed actor, an army officer, was injured by a suspected landmine in Gimpo, Gyeonggi.
