Casualties

In November 2022, there was one recorded incident of explosive weapon use in Egypt which resulted in three civilian casualties, all of whom were killed. One armed-actor was also reportedly killed in the same incident. 

On 6 November 2022, three civilians were killed along with one senior military officer in an IED explosion in Gelbana.

In May 2022, there were three recorded incidents of explosive weapon use in Egypt, one of which resulted in three civilian casualties, all of whom were children that were injured. Civilians accounted for 16% of all casualties, as 16 armed actors were also killed in Egypt in May. 

On 21 May 2022, three young girls were injured in a landmine explosion on agricultural land near Arish.

There was one incident of explosive weapon use in Egypt in August 2021, resulting in 13 armed actor casualties. There were no civilian casualties recorded in Egypt in August 2021. On 12 August, seven Egyptian security forces were killed and six wounded by a roadside bomb planted by Islamic State militants in New Rafah, Sinai. Source: AP, Haaretz
