Casualties

In April 2022, there was one incident of explosive weapon use recorded in Benin which resulted in five armed-actor casualties, all of whom were killed. There were no civilian casualties recorded in Benin in April.

On 12 April 2022, five soldiers were killed in Pendjari when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, suspected to have been planted by islamist militants.

Casualties

In January 2022, there were two incidents of explosive weapon use recorded in Benin which resulted in seven civilian casualties, all of whom were killed. There were two armed-actor casualties recorded in February, both of whom were killed.

On 8 February 2022, six park rangers of the National Wildlife Reserve were killed by two roadside bombs planted by non-state actors in Northern Benin. Two armed-actors, including a soldier from Benin and a French trainer were also killed in the explosion. Two days later, another National park ranger was killed by a roadside bomb in Northern Benin.

Casualties

In January 2022, there were no recorded civilian casualties of explosive weapon use in Benin. There was one recorded incident of explosive weapon use on 6 January 2022, when two Benin state armed-actored were killed and one injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in Pendjari, northern Benin.
